The project
Moving a much-loved lodge website onto our own platform
The client
Berghouse & Cottages offers eleven cottages, from a suite for two to a family cottage for eight, on a 512-hectare private mountain reserve near Bergville in the Northern Drakensberg. The Piccione family has looked after it since 1996, and it is a founder member of the Northern Drakensberg Nature Reserve.
The brief
The website ran on WordPress, with years of pages, photos and journal posts that guests and search engines relied on, and an updated design had been approved on a staging site. The job was to move everything onto WDS Prism, our own content platform, in that design, without breaking a link.
What we built
We turned the approved design into a bespoke Prism theme with 13 custom sections, from the home slider to the cottage galleries and booking cards. Each of the eleven cottages has its own page with a gallery and a booking link to NightsBridge, alongside rates for 2026 and 2027–2028, activities, attractions, directions with a Google Earth introduction, a trail map and a birding checklist.
The move
We migrated 56 pages and posts and 426 images, kept every page address, and redirected the old WordPress archives, feeds and sitemaps. The site went live on 1 October 2026 on WDS Creative’s own server. Since launch we have added a 2026 logo kit and new journal posts.
